Setting Concepts:
The Force: An energy field created by and present in all living things that binds the galaxy together. Those who are sensitive to it are able to use its powers in a variety of ways. It has both a light and a dark side. The Light side being aligned with calmness and used for knowledge and defense as the Jedi use it. Those who use the dark side of the Force, such as the Sith, draw their power from it through negative emotions such as fear and anger. Which side a person used depended on how they were trained and/or their motivations. All Jedi are trained to use the light side, and subsequently all Sith are trained to use the dark. Though one can switch to one side or the other by choice or influence.
Jedi: A force-sensitive individual who is typically a part of and trained by the Jedi Order. Who studied and used the mystical powers of the Force, particularly the light side. The Jedi come in different ranks starting with Younglings, Padawans, Knights, and then Masters. Younglings being children who are just starting to learn the ways of the Jedi. They then become Padawans around their teenage years, becoming an apprentice to an older and more experienced Jedi Knight or Master to further learn and refine their skills. Once the Padawan is considered ready by their Master, they will undergo trials in which they must pass to reach the rank of Knight. Jedi Knights are the most numerous among the ranks and are considered a full member of the Order, defending peace and justice in the galaxy. The final and most difficult to obtain rank is that of Master. A Jedi was appointed as Master by the Jedi Council due to his skills, merits, or accomplishments such as training several Padawans successfully. Obi-Wan personally went through all of these ranks.
Jedi Order: The collective organized group of Jedi who are defenders of peace and justice in the Galatic Republic. They are led by a group of masters know as the Jedi Council, the head of which is known as the Grand Master.
Sith: The mortal enemies of the Jedi. Force sensitive individuals who use the dark side of the Force. They are considered evil and think only of themselves as they use their passions and aggression to draw their power from the Force. There is typically only two Sith at any one given time, a master and an apprentice.
Lightsaber: An elegant weapon used by the Jedi, and Sith, that is essentially a 'laser sword'. Each Jedi constructs his own lightsaber at a young age by acquiring a kyber crystal that is the most attuned to them through the Force. Thus each Jedi has a special connection with their weapon. It is the color of the crystal that determines the color of the lightsaber, usually green or blue though there are other colors. Obi-Wan possesses a blue lightsaber.
Galactic Republic: The ruling government of the galaxy for thousands of years up until the formation of the Galactic Empire.
Galactic Senate: The governing body of the Galactic Republic that was comprised of senators who represented the many worlds in the galaxy that were a part of the Republic.
The Clone Wars: The major conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independant Systems. It was named for the clone trooper army that was held by the Republic and fought the droid army of Separatists. Obi-Wan was a considerable player in the Clone Wars as he fought and won many battles for the Republic. He was considered a General among the clone army.
Clone Troopers: An army of genetically modified clones that were created for the Republic.
Jedi Temple: The headquarters for the Jedi order and where many Jedi were trained and housed. Located on Coruscant.
Coruscant: A city planet known as the Galactic City and was the capitol of the Galactic Republic and the following Galactic Empire.
Order 66: An order issued to the Clone Troopers that listed the Jedi as traitors to the Republic and resulted in the near annihilation of the Jedi.

Personality:
Obi-Wan had been with and trained by the Jedi Order since he was a very small child. Because of that he's grown into a very powerful but disciplined Jedi Master. In his youth he was quite headstrong and even defiant, just as his Master was. However, as he's grown older those traits have diminished somewhat with his experience and maturity. He's able to keep his emotions and feelings well under control in most circumstances and is thus usually very calm and focused. He has always been taught and known that fear and anger leads to the dark side, and for that he represses these feelings. Though there was at least one or two instances where he has nearly given over to anger in relating to his late Master and the Sith Lord who killed him. As a Padawan he was apprenticed to Qui-Gon Jinn. Since Jedi are discovered as very young children and taken from their families to be trained, they essentially have no family. Thus the bond between master and apprentice is the closest thing they have to a child-parent relationship with anyone. It was no different in Obi-Wan's case as he viewed Qui-Gon to not only be his friend and mentor, but a father figure as well. Thus the two of them were very close. Witnessing the death of his master at the hands of a Sith Lord was nothing short of devastating. It is human to feel anger in such circumstances, and while he was tempted to give in to this during the fight with Darth Maul, he managed not to. However, he was faced with this yet again upon discovering that Darth Maul had survived their previous fight, once again tempted to give into his anger but managing not to. If he had, it could have possibly led him down a very dark path. Instead with age and experience he became a cautious and conservative mentor to his own apprentice, though some times perhaps a bit too critical of him. In his dying moments Qui-Gon had asked Obi-Wan to train Anakin Skywalker, who he believed to be the Chosen One that would bring balance to the Force. Obi-Wan gave him his word and followed through, taking Anakin as his Padawan learner. Practically raising the boy the two of them became very close. Just as Qui-Gon had with him, he loved Anakin like a brother and they shared a father/son relationship as Obi-Wan trained and practically raised the boy. They have been through a lot together, including fighting side by side during the Clone Wars. Thus when Anakin turned to the Dark Side and ultimately betrayed him and the rest of the Jedi, it was devastating. However, Obi-Wan had to do his duty and faced his apprentice in a duel which ended in Anakin's defeat upon severing his legs. Despite that, Obi-Wan could not bring himself to kill Anakin, even though he probably should have. Hearing Anakin screaming the words 'I hate you', and the gruesome sight of watching him get burned alive, is something that will haunt Obi-Wan for the rest of his life.

With kindness and gentleness Obi-Wan would rather avoid physical confrontations and thus prefers diplomacy, which has earned him the reputation of 'The Negotiator' among many star systems. But he will not hesitate to jump into action if he needs to. He usually thinks and plans before making his moves, rather than just rushing into things. Though he certainly can be quite bold as he has dropped in amongst a fleet of droids that easily outnumbered him in a fight.
While he is often serious, he isn't without a sense of humor and has a bit of sarcastic wit as shown with his banterings back and forth with Anakin. Sometimes even getting a little defensive in the process. While Jedi aren't supposed to have attachments to people or things, Obi-Wan has shown himself to be friendly and very personable. He tends to make friends wherever he goes.

Obi-Wan has always shown himself to be studious and has not only grown very knowledgable, but is also wise beyond his years. This wisdom, patience, and experience managed to gain him a seat on the Jedi Council. A high honor that most Master Jedi do not achieve as only a small percentage of them get this honor. He was extremely loyal to the Jedi Order, the Republic, and to democracy. Thus when the Republic ultimately fell, and the Jedi Order destroyed, it was a shock that shook him to his core. Though at the same time it wasn't entirely unexpected as he had been witnessing the gradual corruption of the Senate for some time, particularly in regards to Chancelor Palpatine whom he had believed to be dangerous and untrustworthy, only to end up being a Sith Lord.

Even though he is compassionate, he will do what needs to be done for the good of all. Even those closest to him could not override his sense of duty and what he feels to be right, as he had to make some very difficult decisions upon the fall of the Republic. Including the break up of the Order and having to go into hiding, unable to do anything about the fall of the Republic or the Force being shrouded in darkness. The most difficult though was having to face Anakin after he had turned to the dark side and killed all the Jedi in the temple. This having been the most difficult time he's had to face, leaving him anguished and sorrowful. In part he blames himself for not seeing the signs sooner and acting upon them.

Abilities:
Obi-Wan is a Force sensitive Jedi Master and has all the perks and abilities that come with it.
First of all he is an exceptionally skilled lightsaber duelist and was considered one of the greatest swordsman of his time. Typically his style is defensive but he can and will use aggressive attacks if pushed. While he usually only uses one lightsaber, he is able to use two at once proficiently. Obi-Wan has defeated many highly skilled opponents such as a Sith Lord and even his own apprentice. He has also used his lightsaber to absorb Force lightning that was used to attack him by another Sith Lord.
When in combat Obi-Wan usually focuses on his lightsaber abilities, but he is also very skilled and powerful in using the Force. He can use the Jedi mind trick to mentally persuade people, usually to avoid violent confrontations, by manipulating their thoughts and convincing them to or not do something. The opposite is also true in that he can conceal his own feelings. He can also use the Force to calm and tame wild beasts, conceal his own emotions, and perform telekinesis in the form of levitating, pushing, or crushing objects. He can even use the Force to perform great physical feats such as jumping farther than a human normally could, or holding his breath for an exceptionally long time.
When without a lightsaber, Obi-Wan has shown himself to also be capable in hand-to-hand combat and has proven to be a good marksman as he used a blaster to kill the droid General Grevious. He is also a skilled pilot in that he's fought and led many a battle in Jedi fighters. Another Jedi trait that he posesses is very quick reflexes, which comes from the ability to see things before they happen.
As far as his mental prowess, Obi-Wan is a highly studious man and also known to be a great strategist and has led Clone Troopers to many victories as a general. However, he tries to avoid conflict whenever possible which has earned him the reputation as 'The Negotiator' with his persuasive demeanor. As a Jedi Master who has sat on the Jedi Council he was also known to be wise beyond his years and was highly regarded by his peers. Obi-Wan also understands several different languages from his own galaxy.

"I must admit I'm not quite used to this sort of environment. However, those in the Welcome Center proved to be very helpful, and my thanks go out to them. That said, I would like to introduce myself to the rest of you. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi."

A genuine smile is given to the console screen. This technology and also the lack of it was something he would definitely have to get accustomed to with time.

"I would like to know more about the Kedan here and would very much appreciate any information or sources any of you might have."
