I don't know how often you check for messages. You might not have read the other message yet. I knew I should have sent a proper letter. This is stupid.
Tell me if you are interested or not when you see this.
I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing in the aftermath of...everything that happened with the poachers. You were taken by them, weren't you? Some of the local merchants were concerned because they hadn't heard from you in a while. Is there anything that you need?
Hello Shuichi. I apologize for the delay in my response. Yes, I was taken by the poachers, and for the past several days I have been recovering at the Crowe clinic.
I'm glad to hear you're okay. I was lucky enough not to be captured so I'm doing fine. Just looking after Oma-kun while he recovers.
There were a few who had been vandalized recently, but other than that the merchants seem to be okay. None of the ones I spoke to were kidnapped or hurt or anything like that. They just had some smashed windows. Though, given the timing, I can't help but wonder if it was related. You were working with them to try and create and sell monster products from parts that were given freely rather than taken, right? I'd imagine the poachers wouldn't be too happy about that, if they somehow caught wind of it.
I’m glad to hear that you are all right. Be sure to give Kokichi my best.
The poachers are most certainly aware of what I was doing, and were not happy about it in the least. They made certain to let me know at every opportunity.
While vandalism doesn’t surprise me, I deeply regret that has happened. I will be certain to pay a visit to them. Thank you for making me aware.
I'd like that! Though unless you'd like to come over to our apartment, it'll have to be once Oma-kun is all recovered. I don't want to leave him here all by himself, especially since his vocal cords and fingers still haven't regenerated yet.
But I take it that means you're no longer a waldgeist? I've changed back as well, and I...also typically look very different than I did the last time you saw me. Even compared to when we were in that weird dream world.
Not at all! It would be nice to have some company and Oma-kun is still a werefox so he's going to be out like a light until at least sundown. So you definitely wouldn't be bothering either of us.
Very good, I wouldn’t want to disturb him as his rest is essential to his healing. These days I also prefer to move about during the day, so that would work well.
Give me a time that is convenient for you and I will be there.
Now is fine, an hour from now is fine, two hours from now is fine... Really, it's whatever works best for you. I'm just reading while I wait for Oma-kun to wake up.
[Leaving the conversation at that, Obi-Wan returned the laptop ge was currently borrowing before officially being released from the clinic.
He spent his time leisurely walking around the city in the general direction of the apartment that Shuichi and Kokichi shared. Encountering a few beings on the way including a couple humans he had been working with lately. It was then that he got to see first hand what Shuichi was talking about.
It was about two hours later when the nymph came knocking on the shade’s door.]
[The shade jumps a little at the sound of the knock, quickly keeping into the kitchen for a second to turn the electric kettle on remotely with his telekinesis. There's only one person that can be, after all...it's not like they very often have people knocking on their door. But even so, he peeks out the peephole first.]
[Yup, that's Obi-Wan alright. At least...he's pretty sure it is.]
[The creature that opens the door is unlike the greyscale boy the Jedi met on his first day or in their shared dream. Save for the antenna-like tendril of shadow atop its head it's...really not recognizable as Shuichi at all. At least until it starts to speak. The voice is unmistakable, even if the quality has changed somewhat. It's distant and oddly echoed, in a way that almost makes it seem as though it's not coming from the shadowy body floating in the doorway.]
Ben-san! [He sounds very happy to see him though, and the bottoms of his round, glowing eyes curve upwards as though smiling. Though his voice is as soft as it usually is...Kokichi's werewolf exhaustion may have him out like a light but he still thinks it would be rude to shout when his friend so desperately needs rest.] Come in, come in.
[Even though there's no need for him to do so, he moves out of the way of the door, which is seemingly holding itself open of its own accord.]
You really weren't kidding about being a very different-looking monster now, were you?
[When the door opens, Obi-Wan takes a moment to peer curiously at the being on the other side. He knew it was Shuichi but he indeed look different. Like an ethereal spirit more than a boy, and there was a momentary ache in his heart as he remembered their past conversation.
But the happy greeting banishes those thoughts away and the Jedi smiled. Glad to see his young friend no matter what physical state he was in. Thus he accepted the invitation to come in and stepped across the threshold.]
No, I’m a far cry from the waldgeist I had once been.
[And thank goodness for that. He didn’t have to duck when he came in. Though if the pair of twigs on his head were any indication that might not last long.]
[The small, studio apartment is more or less the same as the last time Obi-wan visited. The only noticeable differences being the that heavy blackout curtains drawn over the single window and the fact that the Murphy bed has been pulled down. Kokichi is fast asleep on said bed, curled up under some blankets. The curtains are clearly only there to prevent sunlight from entering the apartment, as the ceiling fixture provides more than enough light for the room.]
[Once Obi-Wan is inside, the door closes behind him, once again seemingly of its own accord.]
I'm doing well...much better now that everyone who was kidnapped has been released. [He was definitely very worried for a while there.] And yourself?
[Seeing Kokichi fast asleep in the bed Obi-Wan is sure to keep his voice down as well, though he’s not normally very loud to begin with. He then watches as the door closes on its own. Which is not really something unusual exactly among Jedi, but that’s the first he has seen such here.]
Far better than I was, though I’m still getting my legs back so to speak.
[While Obi-Wan’s legs are there, Shuichi might notice he is walking carefully and not as steady as he probably should be.]
Also, adjusting to plant life is already proving to be interesting.
[It's a little hard to tell, since he doesn't have pupils or irises, but the shade does glance down briefly at Obi-Wan's legs. Did they harvest his legs while they had him captured? Shuichi really wouldn't put it past them...Just seeing what they did to Kokichi made it clear that the poachers held little to no bars against against their monster captives this time.]
[Though he decides not to ask this...somehow it strikes him as bad form, dredging up traumatic memories that are still so fresh.]
I can imagine... [He gestures towards the couch, silently urging Obi-Wan to have a seat.] Turning into any sort of monster is always an experience but going from an animal to a plant...that seems like it'll have some...very unique circumstances to adjust to.
[Taking the invitation, Obi-Wan sat himself on the couch. It was comfortable enough and he soon reclined, taking the time to relax.]
Not only that, but also going from being undead to living again. Here I had thought dying was dramatic.
[It has definitely been an experience and continued to be see. For instance he would love to be able to take his cloak off and breathe more freely, but he left it on fir modesty’s sake. There was no need to flash the poor boy.]
