[His finger lightly tapping the side of her head right behind Rey's right ear.]

Good morning, Obi-Wan-san. [It's late morning when she calls the Jedi, not wanting to be rude and calling him early just in case he was meditating or sleeping in (though he didn't seem the sort for the latter).]

[ Well, there is an underlying sigh here. ]

[ There's a pause here, before he adds: ]

...and maybe one day we can explore the island a little together.

[ And because this is Anakin, he'll cut off the connection before he gets a response to that. Since after Lavieti? Not going to happen any time soon. And yet he's come to miss those good old days when everything was less complicated between them. ]

[Obi-Wan is just going about his usual business at home when Usagi calls. He's been given ample time off from his Enforcer duties due to the concern of the doctors. Despite insisting that he's fine. So he has plenty of time on his hands right now.]

[She does turn her head a little to watch Obi-Wan out of the corner of her eye at first, but Rey offers no other objections and turns back when her head position starts inhibiting what he's doing. She's still a bit tense, too, but she feels she's allowed all things considering. It's instinct, not distrust, anyway. If she didn't trust Obi-Wan she wouldn't have let him get this far.

That little flinch in her shoulders when he pokes behind her ear is also reflexive, and she doesn't comment on it, but she does have questions. What about the ones without hair? What's the purpose of a single small braid? Did once Obi-Wan have long hair? But most importantly...]

You aren't planning to give me just one tiny braid, are you? [Rey cocks her head to the side to glance at him with an expression of mild alarm. She really can't see how that would help in the current hair situation.]

[Obi-Wan laughs at the question. It's not a mocking laugh, because he certainly isn't making fun of her. No, her concern is cute and endearing, and he's merely amused.]

No, certainly not. I'll be using all of your hair here. It should help keep it out of your face and still be hat friendly.

[Or at least once he straightens out said hair. She's got a few stubborn tangles there. Which he continues to carefully work on, knowing full well how unpleasant it is to have it pulled too hard.]

I'm well! A little... tired, but really happy! [She's throwing herself into work so she doesn't have to think about Mamoru. Though, Obi-Wan is observant enough he may notice the bruise peaking out from beneath the handkerchief scarf she's been sporting since Selenium. It's more or less healed but there is still a tiny bit of bruising.]

I ah- I wanted to tell you! I'm Elios' representative now! I did it!

[He notices, but doesn't comment on it for the time being.]

Really? I believe congratulations are in order then. Perhaps we should celebrate, particularly if Elios put you through an emotional trial as Sosyne did for me.

Uwaaaah it was brutal, Obi-Wan-san. [She may or may not have cried.]

[So not even Elios had mercy, eh. It's okay Usagi, he cried too.]

All food is good food. [Though with a bruised neck-] I know a really good noodle restaurant I think you'll like! [Noodles were simply enough to eat, with no fear of choking.]

[It's been a few hours since her conversation with Anakin, enough time for Barriss to calm down, get over herself, and find her center. More relaxed now, the young Padawan actually takes Skywalker's advice, reaching out in the Force to find the familiar knot that was Obi-Wan Kenobi and following her senses to him.

It's a decent walk to the lake shore, she finds, but it's not unpleasant, and the brisk winter air is perfect for a walking meditation. However when she finds Kenobi seated on the shore, she's not surprised. Nor should he be when she sits down a few arm lengths away and waits for him to say something, not wanting to disturb his meditation.]

[He knows the address, he's coming to know Verens fairly well by now. So Usagi will see a familiar cloaked man coming to meet her about 15 minutes after their conversation ended. He greets her with a polite bow and a smile.]

Shall we, then?

[Rey doesn't understand why Obi-Wan is laughing, but it doesn't seem like he's laughing at her, so she lets it go with only a confused expression. Besides, the answer is satisfying enough. She nods shortly and turns her back to him again so he can work on brushing out her hair. Despite the care he's taking, there's still a few painful tugs, though Rey doesn't complain. She doesn't want to sound like she's griping too much about Obi-Wan's kindness, after all.

On the other hand, sitting in silence is also unbearable. So she latches onto a new subject. Not a particularly entertaining subject, but... it's small talk. That's a thing people do, she knows.]

A Padawan, that's... sort of an apprentice, isn't it? Not a full Jedi. A cadet.

[She bowed back in greeting and grabbed his hand, always physically affectionate. She led him inside.]

I'm so glad you could come!

[Obi-Wan will be getting a white rose with a red ribbon wrapped around it. There is also a box of heart-shaped chocolates. The card reads:]

[Obi-Wan rarely missed a presence that was strong in the Force when it arrived. So he already is aware of Bariss' presence. And he has yet to decide how he feels about it. Which is why he hasn't reached out to her himself.

But as she approaches, he knows its her. Doesn't even have to open his eyes as she sits down nearby. He allows a moment of silence, but eventually does acknowledge her.]

You wish to speak to me, Padawan?

[It's not unfriendly. A neutral tone really as he knows full well she could come from any point in time. He will let her say what she wishes.]

[She nods her head, her tone just as empty, neutral. Her eyes remain closed, but there's a ripple in her sense.]

I do, Master Kenobi. [One eye cracks open, the blue a little strained with color. Today has been trying. Today has been a nightmare, really.]

If...I can speak plainly, I'd like to ask you about the future. And if what Anakin Skywalker told me is true.

[No Master, or even a Knight, appended to his name. He's made his position clear, and despite her mixed feelings on him after their encounter she wasn't going to call him a Jedi anymore. Not...when he clearly was not.]

[He can feel her tension. And her words bring pause and eventually a bit of compassion.]

You mean about Ahsoka.

[Its an easy guess, and he can only imagine what Anakin may have said to her. He had great respect for Master Luminara, and knew she did her best to teach Bariss. He wanted to do right by her Padawan in her absence. No matter any personal feelings about what happened in Bariss' future.]

[She shakes her head in the negative.]

I mean about all of it. That I fall into darkness and betray not just Ahsoka, but everyone in the Order.

[Ahsoka Tano is her closest friend, but Ahsoka Tano is one person, and attachments are forbidden. The whole of the Order means more than one Padawan, no matter how close they may be.]

Is that true? Does my resolve fail?

That's right. All of us were brought into the Order as children. Raised and educated at the Temple and, if you're fortunate enough, chosen by a Master to apprentice under.

[His tone cheerful, he continues to brush her hair for a few moments more. Eventually satisfied with the result, he starts to gather her hair in three separate sections.]

Now, to braid, you divide your hair in three parts like so.

[He knows she can't see it, but she should be able to feel it at least. And he can give her a more visual demonstration afterward.]
