"Really?" Anakin asked in response as he took in his partner's appearance.

"And you're sure he didn't try to like... Set you on fire? Or roast you?"

Since that was pretty much what Obi-Wan looked like.

"What did he say?"

"Well, he was very angry, and I thought he might attack me for a moment," Obi-Wan admitted.

He casually passes Anakin a memory of Piphron reared up on his hind legs. Very big and very threatening, with the floor boiling beneath him.

"But, I managed to calm him down."

Even the Jedi seems a bit surprised at that.

"He blames all humanity for what's happened to this world, and what's happening now. He also doesn't want protection. But he had me promise instead to keep this from happening again."

That wasn't exactly a promise easy to keep, but Anakin didn't point that detail out. The Jedi Master was well enough aware of that for sure.

So instead of stating the obvious, Anakin frowned and crossed his arms.

"We were entirely powerless when Thras was attacked." - A reminder. Anakin didn't like this. At all. Neither of them even sensed anything akin to a warning from the Force.

"He will be reborn, right?"

No, no it wasn't. He had even told Piphron as such himself. However, he assured the old crab that we would do everything in his power to keep that promise.

"They took us by surprise," Obi-Wan agreed. "We just have to make sure we are not caught off guard again."

The Jedi then nodded at Anakin's question.

"Yes, its only a matter of time. But no one, not even the Arehtei, know when or where he will be reborn."

However they were supposed to make sure they weren't caught off guard again Anakin didn't know, but he would... Well. Try.

Though this was a fact that frustrated him deeply. Even the Force wasn't as reliable as it used to be - As if some even greater force was limiting it - Or their perception of it. Anakin might meditate on this matter later.

Obi-Wan's answer received a short nod from the younger man.

"So we will have to make sure Thras is save when he returns. Those aligned to him might notice something before everyone else."

“It’s very likely they will yes. Either we will have to get to Thras before his murderers do or we will have to deal with them before Thras is reborn. I would prefer the latter, honestly.”

Obi-Wan understood Anakin’s frustration, and shared in it too. He has also noticed that the Force did not always lend itself when they needed it like it did back home.

It made him feel useless and incompetent, even though he knew that wasn’t true. Anakin likely felt the same way.

"Hey, I'd prefer if they were already dealt with. So I guess that counts as agreement in that regard."

It already felt as if there was too much time being wasted.

Letting out a displeased noise, Anakin moved and grabbed one of Obi-Wan's hands in his own and just held it. A simple gesture, but one that allowed them to share their frustrations without necessarily wording them all. This negativity wasn't needed.

His voice took on a decisive tone.

"We will get them."

They would.

There was a blink of slight surprise from Obi-Wan when Anakin suddenly grabbed his hand, but he understood the gesture. Thus the Jedi squeezed his hand, a reassuring smile on his face. He wanted to settle his partner's unease, doing so helped him to feel better as well.

"We will."

They had to. For the sake of the entire world.
