I understand your concern for your future changes as they are not to be taken lightly. It’s an unfortunate consequence of our having been brought here. Yet I hope you know that you can find support during that difficult time with your fellow monsters, myself included. If there is anything you need you only have to ask.
Meanwhile I thank you for passing on this valuable insight! I’m not certain when I will use these particular faces myself, but should the need arise I am well prepared. I did try the smiling and winking faces when messaging Jiang Wanyin. Though I’m afraid he was less than impressed.
Oh well, I look forward to putting these faces to use!
Sincerely, Obi-Wan Kenobi

if he isn't actively being cute, it's safe to assume pain lurks somewhere below the surface
Your offer for support is very kind. I will keep it in mind, though I confess that I'm likely far too independent for my own good and I struggle to place any part of my burden on those who already shoulder their own.
You're welcome to blame the faces on me, should Jiang Wanyin inquire. :)
Regards, Xiao Xingchen

You are hardly the first to feel that way, and I can’t say that I blame you. Though I can say that I have found, though experience, that suffering such changes along is far more damaging than not. Thus I hope that you will seek out help should you need it.
Don’t worry, I will give credit where it is due. ;)
Sincerely, Obi-Wan Kenobi
so sorry for the delay, spent a week drowning in modwork
I can assure you that I will indeed seek out help if help is needed.( that part was never under question. that said, it takes a truly dire situation for xingchen to feel in genuine need of help, so the assurance may not mean as much as obi-wan might hope. )
I will inform you if I learn of any further faces.
Sincerely, Xiao Xingchen
P.S. I would not object if you called me 'Xingchen' - culturally, such a thing is friendly but not intimate. I recommend not doing so in front of Jiang Wanyin, however. He seems to have opinions regarding the manner in which I'm addressed.
I am glad to hear that. Far too many try to handle their changes and hunger on their own, which has led to some very unnecessary suffering. [Though he is among those as well. He has experience in that area.]
Thank you, and I will do the same if I learn of any more.
Also, you may call me Obi-Wan as well. Jiang Wanyin holds a great deal of respect for you, so that is only natural, but is also duly noted.
I hear that it takes some time for the hunger to truly set in. I hope that this proves to be the case.
He holds esteem for a title I no longer bear. I tried to rectify this misunderstanding, but his esteem has not diminished. I choose to be grateful for it rather than question it further, but that doesn't mean I would not prefer to simply be 'Xingchen' to any who hold no such preconceptions.
Back to regards I suppose, no need to be predictable, Xingchen
Every monster is different. It can come upon you when you least expect it.
I see. Well there's little point in arguing with someone like Jiang Wanyin anyway. And speaking of names, I am a bit puzzled. Is Xingchen your given name or your family name?
For instance, Obi-Wan is my given name and Kenobi is my family name. Is the order different with your people? [Someone has finally caught on.]
Aha, you've encountered the same confusion I met with early in my stay here. Enough of those whom I met seemed keen on being called by their family name that I finally thought to ask.
In our homeland, one tends to have either two or three names, depending on whether or not a person is born into wealth or gentry status (most often the two overlap).
The family name comes first, that which one's title is attached to. Then comes one of two names - the given name or courtesy name.
One who was born into wealth or gentry has both. It's often the length that tells you which is which. Given name tends to be one syllable, while the courtesy name is two, with few exceptions. As such, Jiang Wanyin prefers use of his courtesy name, while Jiang Cheng (his given name) is how he is known among family.
One who is born outside of such circumstances tends only have a family name and a given one, which can be either length. My given name is Xingchen. I have no courtesy name.
I hope that I've cleared up your understanding, Xiao Xingchen
Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me. That makes a great deal of sense. I was hesitant to ask Jiang Wanyin himself as he tends to get flustered when I ask him such questions about your culture. Learning about the ways of other peoples is something I find very interesting and I wish to understand more about him.
I also did not know that was his courtesy name as he has never mentioned his given name to me. This has been very enlightening.
It's understandable. He has never had to question the trappings of the environment in which he was raised. He may feel like he has to justify them rather than simply explain them. I welcome any further questions you might have, though I myself am biased in much the same way - I was not raised within the gentry, and my perspective on their social and political workings is not favorable for reasons both overarching and personal.
I realize now that perhaps I overstepped in telling you his given name. I had assumed it was known, since the man named Daryl knew him as such. I will be more careful with my presumptions in the future.
Of course, another time. Speaking of such things, I'll let you know regarding my availability for tea as soon as I'm able to.
I have been here but a short time so far, but it's clear that you've become a valuable ally and friend to him. I have faith that one day he'll tell you of his own accord. :)
Sounds about right.

Want to wrap this up?
Yes, that does make sense. I’m certain I will have more questions for you, but I will leave that for another time.
And not to worry, I won’t tell him you told me. I hope that he might do so himself one day.
Until we speak again,
